Business Challenge

Hospitals and patient care are still partly managed as they were in the last century and will have to position themselves more digitally in the future. Healthcare lacks flexible AI solutions that hospitals can use to improve the efficiency and quality of patient care. Current solutions have limited scalability and are limited to isolated applications.

Solution Development

Nuromedia created a technical concept, the AI pipeline, the machine learning algorithms and the visualizations based on 3D-Modeling and a Digital Twin solution.

Objectives & Expected Impact

The goal of the project was to develop a scalable and modular AI toolset that optimise hospital processes and improve the quality of patient care. Consequently, a tool was developed – the “Smart Hospital Care Pathway Engine”.
This cloud-based tool collects information from different sources and generate outputs using AI, Machine Learning, 3D Modelling, etc. The main goal is to improve decision making regarding hospital management and patient care. Deployment of AI solutions throughout a variety of functions from patient diagnostics and treatment at the care facility and at home as well as hospital patient and workflow optimisation enabling enhanced efficiency for hospital management decision-making.

Results Delivered

The developed system provides real time insights into every phase of the clinical helping clients and key stakeholders access data for their studies. With updated reporting functionalities. The solution recognize potential project risks, displays a study ́s progress and notifies users on the key milestone.

Artificial Intelligence to boost hospital care to the future

Healthcare systems lack flexible AI solutions that allow hospitals to improve efficiency and quality of patient care. Current solutions provide limited scalability and are confined to isolated applications. Scalable models that address data sharing, integration, privacy, and ethics are needed to ensure better adoption of AI in healthcare. The solution will visualize the hospital of the future. Hospitals’ dynamic operations and processes will be visualized through Digital Twins and AI data driven models will lead to an improved decision making and healthcare delivery.

Scaling up AI in Healthcare – A Smart Hospital Care Pathway Engine

Deployment of AI solutions throughout a variety of functions from patient diagnostics and treatment at the care facility and at home as well as hospital patient and workflow optimisation enabling enhanced efficiency for hospital management decision-making.

The goal of the project was to demonstrate the scalability of the AI solutions provided by the Smart Hospital Care Pathway (SHCP) Engine to different types of healthcare uses.

With the SHCP Engine, the hospital challenges can be approached from two perspectives: the patients’ perspective and the hospital management one. Three different pilots will be placed to prove and test out the SHCP solution, they will use partners’ existing digital solutions and develop those further in the project to enable the development of the SHCP Engine. The result will be a proven and scalable concept, out of which hospitals can select the needed tools and data management for their use cases. Patient empowerment and evidence-based trust towards Artificial Intelligence will be a key part of the project.

“Deployment of AI solutions throughout a variety of functions from patient diagnostics and treatment at the care facility and at home as well as hospital patient and workflow optimization enabling enhanced efficiency for hospital management decision-making”

Objectives & Expected Impact

  • Develop a scalable and modular AI toolset for hospitals.
  • Use inputs from multiple data sources efficiently.
  • Test the viability of the concept and explore usability in pilots in three European countries, five different hospitals.
  • Create a process for efficient algorithm development.
  • Establish evidence-based trust in artificial intelligence in health care

Pilot Areas: AICCELERATE will visualize the hospital of the future. Hospitals’ dynamic operations and processes will be visualized through Digital Twins and AI data driven models will lead to an improved decision making and healthcare delivery.

In the AICCELERATE project, Nuromedia contributed in the development of the overall technical concept, designed the AI pipeline, developed the algorithms for machine learning on specific use cases and implemented visualisations in the form of 3D modelling and a digital twin solution.
